Where does the toy research take place?

- Testing takes place on site & virtually via video conferencing.
- Our on-site testing typically takes place at Mattel in El Segundo, California.
- Occasionally, other research is done offsite or in homes in the Southern California Area.

Who can participate in toy testing?
A
- Children ages 3-13 can participate in toy testing. We also have parent focus groups. Occasionally, we will have opportunities for teenager and young adults to participate.
- From time to time, we test toys with younger children ages 0-3 and their parents.
- Our toy testing program is open to public. Typically, our on-site toy testing is open to families who reside in participate are from Southern California.

When should my family apply for toy testing?
A
- You are welcome to apply at any point, and if you are expecting, you can just provide a tentative due date for your child.
- Testing opportunities for children usually start around the age of 3 or 4.
- We enjoy talking with parents of children of all ages, including prenatal moms.

What can my child expect when they come in for testing?
A
- Children will have the opportunity to see new toys and ideas before they’re out in the market. Often times, children will get to learn about the toy making process by seeing toy design sketches and toy prototypes before the actual toy is made. Sometimes children will get to test the toy’s features. Other times they will get to play with toys.
- Sometimes, children will join a group with other children. Other times, they are asked to bring a friend with them to the test.
- The Imagination Center Staff will let you know what to expect for your test at the time you are being scheduled.
- Your child’s test may take place virtually or on-site, depending on your geographic location.

Can I participate if I’m from out of state?
A
- Yes! United States residents are welcome to register as toy testers. For those residing outside of Southern California, your toy test will take place virtually. For those in Southern California, your test may take place virtually or on-site.

Can I bring my child with me to parent focus groups?
A
- At this time, we ask that parents do not bring children with them to parent groups on site, unless requested by us.
- We request that you find child care for your children during parent groups. Unfortunately, we do not provide child care while you participate.
- From time to time, we may ask you to bring your child with you for a parent/child interview.
- If you are participating in a virtual focus group, we ask you to call from a quiet, private area, but we understand you may need to attend to your family’s needs during the call.

Is there a place to wait while my child participates in on-site testing?
A
- Yes, parents and siblings can wait in our lobby while other children participate.
- We have toys, books and movies available for children.
- Children in our lobby must be supervised by an adult who is at least 18 years old.

What will my family get out of toy testing?
A
- You and your children will get a unique experience to be a part of the toy making process!
- You and your children will get to share your opinions and shape the outcome of the toy or idea.
- Additionally, we know families take time out of their day to be here, so we offer incentives for your participation. Parents receive a gift card for participating and children will receive either a toy from our toy closet (for on-site testing) and/or a gift card. Virtual participants will be emailed a digital gift card after participating.

Why do I need to complete pre-screening questions before participating?
A
- We want to make sure that you and/or your child have a positive and memorable experience in toy testing, so the pre-screening questions help us place you in groups that are interesting and relevant to you and your child

How do I update my registration or personal/family information (i.e. update email, add child, etc.)?

- Please return to our registration site.

- You will be sent an email with a unique link to update your profile.
- Click on this unique link to update your registration, personal/family information, etc.

I would no longer like to receive emails from the Imagination Center. How do I unsubscribe?

- Enter and submit your email that is currently registered with us.
- You will be sent an email with a unique link to update your profile.
- Click on this unique link and navigate to Edit Registration.
- Select "Please remove me from the Imagination Center" in the dropdown and hit "Review and Submit.
